The restoration of the historic Pump House building and scheduled monuments at Alexandra Dock is now complete. The finished building is now home to the HMS Caroline Visitor Reception & Tickets area along with dedicated Exhibition space featuring much of the original Edwardian-era machinery and associated technology.
External works on the Pump House included demolitions; repair, replacements & repointing of brickwork; new carved keystone with ‘BHC’ logo; roof repairs & re-slating; window repairs and replacements; render repairs etc.
Internal works included strip-outs; dry-lining; construction of new ramps between spaces; stud wall construction; installation of toilet cubicles & vanity units; M&E Installations; cleaning & re-pointing of exposed brick surfaces; plasterwork & painting etc.
The works to the historic Alexandra Dock included infrastructure and services works, lifting & relaying of historic Galleted & Belfast cobbles/setts, new natural stone paving, setts & kerbs, construction of a new 25-metre steel and timber footbridge across the dock and construction of two brows onto the HMS Caroline.
