The new 5500m² Skills Centre at the South West College Enniskillen Campus, accommodates teaching facilities & workshops for plumbing, electrical engineering, electronics, painting & decorating, joinery, plastering, Fabrication engineering and car maintenance along with general classrooms staff & student welfare facilities. The project included demolition of existing adjacent buildings upon completion of the new building. All new works were carried out on an existing live site and around occupied buildings. This scheme encompassed the low carbon design initiative, proposals & achieved BREEAM performance rating of 'Very Good'. This sustainable building includes enhanced 'u' values to the building envelope, biomass boiler, rainwater harvesting, intelligent lighting system & extensive use of 'A' rated materials. The project was registered with the Considerate Constructors Scheme and was awarded a Certificate for 'Performance beyond Compliance' with a score of 36 out of 40. The project included a high level of complex M&E services including LPHW heating, plumbing, dust extract, fume extract, compressed air installation, multi fuel gas installations, ventilation including welding booths and, heat recovery, air conditioning, general wiring and lighting, fire & intruder alarm, PA & call systems. Induction loops, video intercom system, lightning protection, power factor correction and surge protection, audio visual equipment, interactive whiteboards. The project required intensive close liaison with client as the workshops included numerous specialist machines being procured directly by with services coordinated & connected by ourselves. This scheme was constructed adjacent to the existing facility. 50% of the project was handed over 1 month early to facilitate Client decant & fit-out. Completion Date: September 2009 |
