In June 2008 we completed works on the existing press building for Johnston's Press Ltd. The scheme involved works within the existing building to create new office and ancillary space together with works to the existing parking and siteworks to facilitate the extension of the existing press hall.
The alteration works to the existing offices comprised the refurbishment of ground and first floor offices including demolition and alterations, removals of walls and building up door and window openings, stripping out floor, wall and ceiling finishes, removal of doors and provision of complete new finishing's, doors, windows, toilet cubicles and vanity units etc complete with mechanical and electrical services installation and associated builders works and drainage.
Externally the works comprised of the remodelling and extension of car parking areas to provide additional parking and improved access complete with mechanical and electrical service installations and associated builders works and drainage.
The extension to the existing press hall was carried out while the hall remained in full 24 hour operation and included for complete mechanical and electrical services, siteworks, drainage and other ancillary works.
The Press Hall and Reel Store are a single storey portal extension to the existing building on piled concrete foundations, with heavy concrete floor and bases for a new press, cladding, glazing, access doors and mechanical & electrical installations etc.
Both extensions required break through connection to the existing building. Also included in the works was the construction of a new two storey archive building comprising piled foundations, steel frame, concrete floors/stairs and roof.
