QUB Riddel Hall

Location: Stranmillis Road, Belfast

A regeneration scheme completed for Queen’s University Belfast at Riddel Hall has created a high quality state-of-the-art facility comprising:

– Postgraduate & Executive Education Centre

– Teaching & Conference Wing

– Queen’s University Management School

The extensive refurbishment of the existing Riddel Hall building has created a unique Graduate School accommodating 9 syndicate rooms, 10 postgraduate rooms, 4 lecture theatres, 2 Research Rooms, 28 academic/assistant directors’ offices, an executive lounge and facilities for executive dining within an internal courtyard.

Two glazed walkways connect Riddel Hall to the new Teaching & Conference Wing. This facility provides teaching & IT facilities for postgraduate & executive users with its 2 computer labs, library, large group teaching room, postgraduate room & a Trading Room providing a simulated trading environment. The tiered lecture theatre for 180 delegates has state-of-the-art audio visuals & acoustics. This facility will provide a venue for conference & corporate events.

The third building in the facility is the new Queen’s University Management School. This building is home to postgraduate research rooms, 71 academic offices, school & student offices and a records room.

The project was Highly Commended in the Category of Building Conservation at the RICS Awards Northern Ireland and also received a Commendation in the Conservation Category of the RSUA Design Awards. The project was also awarded at the CEF+Specify Construction Excellence Awards as a Finalist for the Restoration Award for the Phase I works and was the overall winner of the Education Infrastructure Award for Phase II of the Works.
