This project comprised restoration works to the existing B1 Listed Memorial Hall along with the construction of a new four storey extension. The new build extension accommodates a reception, interactive exhibition, audio visual/lecture theatre, exhibition area, library, curators office as well as a shop & toilets.
The renovation of the B1 listed Memorial Hall included provision for linkages to the extension, along with passenger lift and new link corridor to the new extension. The works included mechanical and electrical services. The renovation of the B1 listed Memorial Hall included restoration and repairs to damaged fabric and finishes.
The city centre site is located within the Historic City Conservation Area between at the corner of Magazine Street and Society Street within the Walled City of Derry with its main frontage is along Society Street. The new purpose built museum and visitor centre extensions filled the site footprint and were constructed on the very restricted space between the existing Memorial Hall and the adjacent Britannia Hall which remained operational throughout.
