The Sterile Manufacturing Facility at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast is four storey ‘Ultra Clean’ production facility for the production of sterile and non-sterile drugs and products. It enables cleanliness, sterility, ease of maintenance and efficiency for the various production processes.
The facility houses office accommodation, staff changing facilities, washrooms, aseptic suites, dry & wet rooms, autoclave, bottle wash facilities, laboratories, clean rooms, seminar room and plant room. The project involved the construction, commissioning and validation of Grade A to D Pharmaceutical Clean Rooms along with specialist equipment and systems including purified water, pure steam generation, fume extract, autoclaves and isolators.
The highly energy efficient building makes the best use of renewable sources of energy. Long-life low-energy materials and components make it a low maintenance building.
