PassivHaus Staff Training

As part of our programme of Continuing Professional Development a number of our staff have recently obtained PassivHaus Tradesperson Certification for PassivHaus Basics along with Building Envelope Specialisation.

The qualification was obtained in accordance with the examination regulations from 1st April 2012 and awarded upon successful completion of the Certified PassivHaus Tradesperson examination.

Additional staff are currently in the process of training for PassivHaus Designer Certification.

New Bridge at HMS Caroline

As the Hard Landscaping and Historic Building Contract at HMS Caroline nears completion a major milestone was achieved when the new 25 meter steel and timber footbridge was installed, providing access across Alexandra Dock. This provides visitors with direct access from the Thompson Pump House building, now home to the HMS Caroline Visitor Reception, Exhibition Space & Tickets area to HMS Caroline.

The new 25-metre steel and timber footbridge weighing 14 tonnes was successfully installed on 30th November 2017.

New Swimming Pool completed at Clongowes Wood College

The scope of this project included the construction of a new pool building which encompasses a 25m Pool and separate Hydrotherapy Pool along with associated support accommodation, access, changing rooms, viewing gallery, basement plant rooms and ancillary spaces.

Alterations were carried out to the existing Gymnasium with extended gallery access created and internal reconfigurations carried out at the boundary with the new pool building. External works included drainage and service ducts, paths steps, viewing steps and access ways and preparation for soft landscape works.

Official Opening of new Ambient Food Storage & Distribution Warehouse

The official opening of the new 18,000m² ambient food storage & distribution warehouse for Henderson Group at Hyde Park Industrial Estate, Mallusk took place on 20th September 2017 with the ceremony led by Spar International chief Tobias Wasmuht.

The new facility which is capable of handling 100,000 tonnes of goods a year will streamline the service to 447 independent and company-owned stores which the family-owned Henderson Group supplies across the north.

This Design and Build development included the construction of a new office building integrated into the warehouse, installation of 31 No. Dock Levellers, external works within the yard and car park areas along with new security gatehouse and barriers. The main warehouse is fully fitted out with high bay racking and sprinklers, 12m high x 84m x 12m wide aerosol cage, cage storage area, battery charge area, fully fitted out battery change and charging equipment, manual handling equipment workshop with overhead gantry hoist, wash rooms, sprinkler pump room, damaged goods area, Comms Room, Union Room and Emergency Response Unit Facility.

Works complete at Cleaver House

Works were recently completed 0n the Cleaver House Building, Belfast where we carried out the strip out and refurbishment of the building to provide fully fitted out Grade A office accommodation on the second, third, fourth & fifth floors.

Works also included ground floor structural alterations, installation of new mechanical, electrical & sprinkler services and installation of a roof top external plant room. Ground and first floor accommodation remained occupied and operational for the duration of the works.

Handover of Dunnes Stores at Abbey Centre

Following up on the previous successful completion of the extension for the new NEXT store at Abbey Centre Tracey Brothers have completed and handed-over the newly extended Dunnes Stores Unit to our client New River Retail. The construction of 3Nr extensions has added 12,100sqft of mixed retail space to the existing unit. Roofing upgrade works were also completed along with provision of additional parking facilities.

HMS Caroline Historic Buildings & Hard Landscaping Works

This project which is currently on-site consists of the restoration of the historic Thompson Pump House building and scheduled monuments. The finished building will be home to the HMS Caroline Visitor Reception & Tickets area along with dedicated Exhibition space.

External works on the Thompson Pump House include demolitions; repair, replacements & repointing of brickwork; new carved keystone with ‘BHC’ logo; roof repairs & re-slating; window repairs and replacements; render repairs etc.

Internal works include strip-outs; dry-lining; construction of new ramps between spaces; stud wall construction; installation of toilet cubicles & vanity units; M&E Installations; cleaning & re-pointing of exposed brick surfaces; plasterwork & painting etc.

The works to the historic Alexandra Dock include infrastructure and services works, lifting & relaying of historic Galleted & Belfast cobbles/setts, new natural stone paving, setts & kerbs, construction of a new bridge link across the dock and construction of two brows onto the HMS Caroline.

Works On-Going at Cleaver House

Works on the Cleaver House Building, Belfast are on-going and consist of refurbishment & office accommodation fit-out of the second, third, fourth & fifth floors, ground floor structural alterations, full strip-out of and installation of new mechanical, electrical & sprinkler services and installation of a roof top external plant room. Ground and first floor accommodation remains occupied.

Refurbishment works include removing existing finishes, stud wall partitions, ceiling finishes, wall finishes, floor finishes and existing raised access floors and replacing with new, new finishes to the main accommodation stair and a new glazed shop front and glazed entrance doors.

The Listed Building is situated on a confined site in close proximity to Belfast City Hall, adjacent to commercial properties, city centre bus lanes & main arterial routes, all of which impose restrictions on site operations, noise, deliveries and storage.

Works On-Going at Dunnes Stores Abbeycentre

The works include the construction of 3Nr extensions to and the provision of new roof coverings to the existing Dunnes Stores at Abbeycentre Shopping Centre.

Extension 1 is a new front double height retail extension together with a new public front entrance arrangement. Extension 2 is a new service yard double height storage and office extension at ground floor with a further first floor together with a goods in canopy arrangement. Extension 3 involves the demolition of existing units 41 – 44 and the construction of a new single height retail extension. Roofing works include the removal of the existing roof covering and the application of new roof coverings..

The contract includes for all associated works in forming the extensions, adjacent carparking, additional carparking across the site and drainage installations.
